When it is term time the parking of the parents cars down the Buckland road and at the junction with Summerside is making it very difficult to get out of our property, as they always park outside our house. I do believe that in the highway code you are advised not to park within 10 metres of a junction!! Maybe the double yellow lines are in need of repainting and the parents advised accordingly advised by the School newsletter.
If we are looking to the future and the likelihood of an increase in the number of children attending the school, now may be a good time to consider how we could change access to the school. For instance, in the Netherlands to enable people to access schools or villages a concrete strip road is installed across a field. The farmer can still access the fields for planting, ploughing and harvesting and people can drive safely over the concrete strip to the rear of the school. There would be a turning circle so no-one would have to reverse, and there should be a car park for staff. The concrete strip should run from Buckland Road to the rear of the school.
