I would like to see more use made of the RWMT minibus for the benefit of Bucklanders. For example, the bus could be used for one-off seasonal visits to see the snowdrops or bluebells, or the Christmas tractor lights in Banbury/Deddington. It would also be great to reinstate visits to Longworth Film Club, and allow local parents to take groups of children to their weekend sports fixtures. Community visits to Aston Pottery and Bampton Garden Centre might also be possible, as well as trips to local beauty spots for walking groups.
In order to achieve this and meet stringent insurance requirements, the village/parish will need to set up a new "Buckland Social Club" with its own chairman and secretary, and create a brief charter to establish and define its purpose eg to further social activity within the village/parish. No bad thing in itself, in my opinion. Armed with our charter, we should be able to acquire a Section 19 transport permit enabling Bucklanders to drive the minibus, properly insured, on one-off visits. We will also need our own pool of drivers. Any takers?
