I am interested to see what we can do to embrace shared mobility in Buckland.
Things that are top of mind include:
Introducing a Car Club
We are keen to avoid buying a second car because we would use it infrequently, but I do have to travel to London most weeks and having access to a car (or cars) that we and other members of the village could easily rent when needed, would be useful.
This would have the potential to help us and others to avoid buying a second car, and potentially allow others to sell theirs, reducing the parking burden in the village.
Setting up a School Bus
I'm aware of the complaints about the amount of traffic and parking time. I'm keen to explore, given that the vast majority of travel to Buckland Primary School is from Faringdon, Stamford in the Vale and Bampton, whether there is scope for school buses to reduce this, and maybe even using the village bus to help with this.
I would welcome ideas and other people's thoughts too.
Thank you,
Drummond
Great idea to have a village rental car; I would use it! Even better if it was electric. there could be chargers at the village hall.
I too would support a EV car scheme. This could tie in with having a charging point in the village hall car park, as well as the cars use for volunteers to drive for others in the village. Other schemes do exist in other areas with the support of the county and district councils. e.g. https://village-hall.github.io/docs/car-club/#:~:text=Introducing%20Leicestershir e's%20first%20all%20electric,Saturday%20the%2016th%20September%202023.
